Yankton School District encompasses an area of 210 square miles, all of which is located in Yankton County. The district serves approximately 3,100 students from Jr. Kindergarten to the 12th Grade. The district provides four Elementary Schools (Grades K-5), one Middle School (6-8), one High School (9-12), and one Alternative Learning Center (9-12). The district offers a comprehensive educational program emphasizing sound, basic curriculum.
Sacred Heart School is located in Yankton, South Dakota. The first school was built in 1884 just west of the current Sacred Heart Church. In 1922 a new two-story brick school was completed at 5th and Capital. In 2002 construction of the new PK-4th classrooms was added on to St. Benedict church building.
The school has over 27 staff members. Grades range from Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade. Current enrollment of approximately 385 students from 225 families.
The Profile
Mount Marty College is a private, Catholic, Benedictine co-educational liberal arts college. Primary emphasis is placed on the development of each person as a complete human being with intellectual, professional, and personal skills and a composite of moral, spiritual, and social values.
The People
Mount Marty College enrolls over 1100 students of all faiths. Students come from 25 states and 5 foreign countries. Classes are taught by professors, not graduate students. The small student-faculty ratio fosters personalized learning, where teaching is the highest priority.
The Place
Mount Marty College is located in Yankton, South Dakota, a town of 15,000 people. Located on the bluffs of the Missouri River, the 80-acre campus has a mix of modern and historic buildings. The campus has a new Scholastica Learning Center and Cyber Cafe.

Regional Technical Education Center (RTEC)
The purpose of RTEC is to provide high quality, accessible, affordable, technical education and training opportunities which will enhance the abilities of individuals to obtain and retrain employment.
The goal of RTEC is to provide a work and skills ready labor force that will provide area business with a competitive edge in the marketplace.
By working closely with local businesses RTEC is able to broker and provide the training and vocational opportunities for the areas work and labor force by being responsive to immediate training needs of area businesses.
WHAT IS RTEC?
RTEC is a not-for-profit technical education center that provides rapid response training and education for regional organizations in collaboration with strategic partners.
There is no set curriculum at this time. RTEC goes out into the regional area, determines the employer needs, and develops education and training to meet the needs.

GED Preparation & Testing:
SEJL Instructors provide GED instruction for clients who do not have a high school diploma. SEJL uses pre-testing, study guides, workbooks, a complete GED study course, as well as individualized and computer assisted help to prepare clients to successfully complete the GED exam.
Adult Basic Education:
Instructors work with individuals who would like to upgrade or refresh their math and reading skills whether it's to help children with homework, to prepare themselves for higher education, or to prepare for a better job. Included in the ABE program is civics training for SEJL's newly immigrated clientele.
Proctor Services for the Community:
